Irish Pub Night!

Gutentag!! That means hello in German. Today we had a class meeting early in the morning and we went over our itineraries for our upcoming trip to Berlin. We also discussed where everyone really wanted to travel to this semester. Prof. Becker or Heir Becker pulled out a large map and showed us where other students had traveled last semester. People had been to Sweden, Morocco, Croatia, Poland, Greece ect. Most people in our class all really wanted to visit Ireland and Greece. We were told our first assignment which is not due until March, which is we have to visit a different state in Germany-there is 16, and make a scrapbook about it. You have to discuss their culture, politics, economics, interesting facts and other information that you would not know without visiting. You are required to stay for atleast 1-2 nights. Myself and Anna were lucky enough to pick a state that's close to us and Andrea and Lauren picked states that are very North. Becker wanted us to sign up for states without knowing anything about them including where they were located. After class we went to go to the Penny Mart where we shopped for some groceries for today and tomorrow because they're not open on sundays. People buy their groceries almost every day because they do not use preservatives in their food. It seems so much more fresh and healthy! Then most of the group went downtown Reutlingen to go shopping. They found some good deals, surprisingly cheaper than in the states! We then rested up and went out to the infamous German Pub...in Germany! Valpo students in the past have said that this is their favorite bar in Reutlingen. It was such a good time and we enjoyed in "bier cider." Andrea and I couldn't believe we actually liked it! It did not even taste like beer, more like carbonated apple cider. Then to end off the night we took the city bus back to our dorms and a few of us hung out in Anna's room eating pretzels and nutella...YUM!
