Hey all!
Post number 2 here! Our day started strange. The jet lag really threw all of us off and even though we were exhausted, we woke up at 4 am (germany time) and couldn't fall back asleep. It was no fun. After an hour of talking and laughing we finally decided to fall back asleep only to wake up again 2 hours later. :(

Once we were up, we began our tour of Reutlingen University (only to find out it's not really called that, but it's name is translated to "highschool" in english. Thought that was pretty weird). Filled out our official Germany documents to ensure we're going to be here for FOUR MONTHS! We learned where all the bakeries, coffee shops, grocery stores, post offices, liquor stores, etc. are! That was a big help. The only problem with all this walking was that it was 7 degress out. We were all frozen!! We also experienced our first "doner kabob." Pretty much equivelant to the best Gyro in the US, but much less fattening and still very filling. Plus it was cheap! and they're all over the place.
Downtown Reutlingen was next. It was the cutest town. So quaint and the cobblestone streets chain out from the main center square with endless shops, pubs, and restaurants. Then we began a 2 hour too long tour of the downtown Reutlingen area that we had just walked through by a tour guide. She was very nice and informational, but not entertaining enough to keep our minds off how cold we were getting from being outside for 2+ hours in the freezing cold. Apparently they never get temperatures to this degree!
When we finished that, we walked to the Beer and Wine Academy. We learned all about our diplomas we can receive whenever we want, but we'll get into that later when it actually happens... there, we had our first actual German drink in a pub, and it was really great to sit around and have excellant conversations with the amazing group of people we're so fortunate to be traveling with.
We then went to a pizza place that was so cute and chique. We got our own pizzas and as we were done ordering backstreet boys came on the overhead stereo system. SO FUNNY.
Our day was over with Prof Beck. We decided to buy some wine at the Penny Markt and hang out in our rooms!! So we did and it was a blast. We talked for hours about random stories from our lives and got to know each other better. We really do have an amazing group that we are traveling with. Each one of us gets along and brings a unique quality to the group. With no doubt, it will be an unforgettable semester!
More soon!
Love, the girls!
